‘Top Award’ Winning Wonder Girls Take “Award Given by the Nation”.. Sobbing Tears

The group Wonder Girls, who won the top award at the ‘18th Annual Seoul Music Awards’, accepted their prize as an award given to them by the citizens of Korea and promised to work harder in the future as they shed tears.

Hosted by Jang YoonJung, Park JungAh, and Shin YoungIl, the ‘18th Annual Seoul Music Awards’ took place on February 12 at 5 P.M. at Gangwon-do Taebaek-si’s Gowon Auditorium. Here, the Wonder Girls were selected as winners of the top award.

The Wonder Girls returned to Korea from the US for the awards ceremony, and on this day, they were triple crown winners as they received the Top Award, an honorary Seoul Music Award, and a Digital Music Award.

Following their win, Wonder Girls member SunYe stated, crying, “It was just our 2nd year anniversary. We’re so grateful for this huge honor. We’ll reach farther and try to do our very best. We’ll consider this an award from the Korean public who wants us to gather our strength and work hard. We’ll work harder.”

Other members SoHee, YeEun, YooBin, and Sun Mi were in tears as well as they stated, “Thank you for such a big honor. We’ll do our best to show you a better side of us.”

[News]Big Bang’s Book, Wonder Girls’ Concert Tickets – Moms & Dads are Buying a Lot

By NewsWire (Korea Press Release Network)
[Source: http://www.newswire.co.kr/]

(Seoul=NewsWire) 2009 February 11 – Parents in their late-30s and 40s with elementary, junior high, and high school aged children have been found to be the most active consumers of music albums, books, and concert tickets featuring their children’s favorite singers.

An analysis of buyer data for idol stars’ books and concert tickets at publications auction site Books&Music (book.auction.co.kr) and ticket reservation site Auction Ticket (ticket.auction.co.kr) has revealed that women in their late 30s and 40s represent the key buyer demographic.

In the case of the Wonder Girls’ concert coming up on March 28, those consumers in their late-30s and 40s—reaching 21%—in addition to the number of teenagers purchasing tickets for themselves, represented the expanding group of parents buying tickets for their children.

In addition, moms appear to be more active participants in their children’s cultural lives than dads. Among those in their late-30s and 40s purchasing Wonder Girls’ concert tickets, female buyers led the pack at 75% as opposed to only 25% of the buyers who were male. With Big Bang’s autobiography, there were only slightly more females among consumers in their late-30s and 40s. 46% of these buyers were male and 54% were females.

Auction Ticket’s department head, Joo ManWoo, explained, “The number of children actually going to concerts with a parent—especially their mom—has skyrocketed. It appears that parents are now less inclined to intervene with their children’s cultural preferences as a more supportive climate is taking hold.”

Meanwhile, the Wonder Girls’ concert tickets went on sale at Auction Ticket’s site on January 29 and quickly reached the #1 position in the advance-booking ranking. Tickets were sold out in the early stages of ticketing, representing a new record in a concert market that, in the past, had exclusively belonged to male idols.

>>>WonderBang strikes again, it seems? Wait, its like WonderBang always ‘strike’ ^_^

[News]Wonder Girls Going On A World Tour

[Credit: wonderholic.com + kimyoobin.wordpress.com]

Almost two years into their debut, Wonder Girls’ popularity in Korea is increasing day by day. Even though they might not be as popular overseas, their name is quite familiar in several countries in Asia and the United States. That is because some of their music video and performance video clips have been released on YouTube and were watched by many viewers around the world.

Now Wonder Girls is about to take their popularity to the next level in the overseas music market by going on a world tour. The group is scheduled to start their very first world tour in late February. On Feb 28, they will head to Bangkok, Thailand, then to Los Angeles on March 5, Orange County in California on March 6, and New York on March 8.

Wonder Girls were originally scheduled to open their first concert in Korea on Feb 14 before starting their world tour. But the girls wanted to be fully prepared for their first-ever concert in the motherland so the concert has been pushed back to late March. After they finish their world tour and come back to Korea, they will hold a concert at the Olympic Fencing Stadium on March 28.

The girls do not have much experience in performing outside of Korea, but they have previously performed with other JYP singers and musicians at “The JYP Tour” held in the United States last February. Back then, they were more of a guest than a main performer, so they did not have to perform for the entire show.

But this time, they will perform all alone so they are reportedly preparing a lot and putting great efforts into the show.

Although the world tour venues were already fixed, there is a possibility that the tour will be expanded. Other countries such as Taiwan and China are requesting concerts in their country as well, so it is still unknown where else the concert will be held. A Wonder Girls’ representative said they are still revising several concert requests so the girls may visit some more countries.

Besides going on a world tour, there are rumors that Wonder Girls are expected to star in a drama that will be co-produced by Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon & Park Jin-young, the girl’s management company president. The drama is tentatively called ‘Dream High’ but other details are unknown yet.

>>>Antgh by Wonder Girls are wonderful – hope they have concert in Singapore or Malaysia ^_^
